Koviljsko-petrovaradinski rit represents a complex of swampy and forest ecosystems (5,895 ha), with numerous living communities, functionally connected to an integral whole. It is located in southeastern Bačka, on the inundation area of the middle flow of the Danube. The basic values of this area are preservation and diversity of the original orographic and hydrographic forms, preservation of the original plant communities and the diversity and richness of fauna. Due to its exceptional natural values, Koviljsko-petrovaradinski rit was proclaimed as an Important Bird and Biodiversity Area (IBA) and as an Important Plant Area (IPA). In 2004 it was included in the list of protected water-dependent areas of the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR).
This location features Kurjačka greda, Arkanj, Karlovački dunavac, Šlajz, Namet and Tikvarа.
Having in mind the small distance from Novi Sad (20km) and Belgrade (60km) and the immediate vicinity of the E75 highway, the Special Nature Reserve Koviljsko-petrovaradinski rit offers exceptional possibilities in terms of establishing and developing tourism and tourist offer in general.
Possibility of parking for buses, trucks and cars in Kovilj (parking at the Kovilj Monastery). Accommodation facilities are in nearby cities – Novi Sad, Sremski Karlovci, Kovilj.
For each shooting, the Nature Protection Requirements issued by the Institute for Nature Conservation of Vojvodina Province (Pokrajinski zavod za zaštitu prirode, Radnička 20, Novi Sad) are required. These conditions give all limitations from the aspect of nature protection. Accessibility of the terrain is conditioned by the water level of the Danube. It is necessary to get Shooting permission from reserve manager too (JP Vojvodinašume).
