Kale – Pirot town is a small fortress with several towers. The fortress consists of three parts: the upper town with the donjon tower, the middle portion with a wall and two towers, and the lowest – the bottom part with a wall and a trench. Going through different periods of time, it was receiving different names, such as Turres (Tower) during the Roman Empire, and then in the third and fourth century Pirgos, Thurib, Momčilov grad, Kale, Tvrđava, and the current name of this town is Kale.
