The fortress was built during the reign of Emperor Traian in 2nd century. This was the biggest and the most important fortification in this area and it was strategically well positioned. The task of the military unit in a camp was to protect frontiers and guard downstream entrance to the canal. Diana was functioning as a fortification until 6th century.
