The museum was opened in 1987 on the occasion of celebrating two centuries of birth of Vuk Karadžić. It is complex type and contains items from all parts of life and work of people in this region, from prehistoric times until 1950. It is located in a beautiful surroundings of the school’s park and Jovan Cvijic square.
The archeological collection of the museum possesses 171 items, the ethnological 410, historical 516, artistic, numismatic 195, collection of medals 39, and also over 1500 documents and photographs. The Jadar Museum actively participates in celebration of the important dates, events and persons. Its participation is very important when celebrating battles at Cer and Gučevo, anniversary of people execution in 1941 at Draginac and the anniversary of great scientist Jovan Cvijić, and also other important dates and persons. Beside the permanent exhibition, which can be seen every day, around 10 exhibitions a year are being prepared within the museum rooms accompanied by the appropriate program.
