Avala Studios are the oldest and the largest ex-yu film company founded in 1946.
The first feature motion pictures produced in post-war Yugoslavia ‘Slavica’ was made by Avala film in 1947. Avala film has produced a total of 220 feature films, 430 documentaries.

A very important activity of Avala film was co-operating and rendering of technical services and co-production with international partners. The first motion picture Avala film produced as a join venture with a foreign partner was ‘THE LAST BRIDGE’, by Helmut Käutner in 1954, made as a co-production with COSMOL, Vienna. By the end of 2000, over 120 foreign films were made at AVALA FILM studios.
Avala Studios is complex of facilities located in the heart of a large Košutnjak park, only 6 kilometers away from the city center.
Studio offers 4 sound stages and backlot with addition of Head Office, vehicle storage unit as well as a small building with apartments for actors. Studios 1, 5 and 7 are used for TV shows while studio 4 is available for smaller projects and commercials.
